Dear All,

A big thank you from Senpai John and Senpai Leeann for another fantastic year.

Over the past year we have seen Aimee Owen blossom into a strong, confident yet elegant fighter. Aimee has fought in many tournaments this year and to my knowledge has picked up first place in most if not all.

Aimee competed in England V Wales first knockdown and won. Then took of to Belgium with her brother Senpai Matt who entered into his first senior knockdown and both came back with first places. We can’t tell you how proud the club is of you both. OUS!

We have had 100% pass rate in gradings held this year.

Due to members dropping and increase of hall rent we had to change the location of our Dojo and I know its not the same as the school hall BUT it’s about us training together as we always do as a team. So thank you for all who may not of liked the change but have stuck with it.

Thank you for all your hard work.

Thank you list:

Thank you: Senpai John Smith for all the great sessions you provide and for pushing everyone to achieve their goals.

Thank you: Senpai Lucy Rymell for being there at the beginning of the sessions to do the registers and for support in teaching juniors and seniors. Going to all tournaments to help support and coach.

Thank you: Josh Marketis for the maintenance of the website. A lot of hard work has gone into producing the site.

Thank you: George and Senpai Matt for your support with the juniors. It helps support the senpais to be able to give focus onc ertain areas of their teaching. So big thanks.

Thank you to all who have trained and supported the club of the last year.

Our last session before Christmas will be Tuesday 21st December and we will be back on Tuesday 4th January 2011.

A big thank you from Senpai John and Senpai Leeann for a fantastic year.

Over the past few months we have seen Mollie Milton become junior world champion, Matt Owen become undefeated in the cadet knockdown and Aimee Owen, Dave Belleen, George Hustwayte, Leeann Lee, Matt Owen and Mollie Milton all representing England at the England v Wales.

George has also become not just the Regional champion, but the National champion in the novice knockdown.

Dwayne Sutton took first place in the kata at the beginning of the year and the juniors and cadets went to the Crawley interclub competition and wiped the floor by winning 90% of the first, second and third places on the day. Every where we go everyone knows who we are and what we are capable of.

Thank you for all your hard work.

Just to let everyone know; ALL LICENCES will need renewing as they all run out on 1st January 2010 so please can you start making arrangements with the secretary to re-new them.

Also yearly memberships will need to be renewed as well in January. I am giving you all lots of notice. I’m afraid I have had to make the decision to increase membership by five pounds. Senior’s £35 and Junior’s £25 due to increase of hall hirer etc. Monthly fees will stay the same.

We will be holding a Christmas meal on 5th December at Cosmo in Hastings. Please let us know if you will be attending and how many seats you will need to book. Let’s celebrate what a great year we have had together.

Our last session before Christmas will be Monday 21st December and we will be back Monday 4th January 2010.

We are selling raffle tickets (£1 a strip) to be drawn on the last session before Christmas. We have lots of prizes to win from chocolates, syllabus books, badgets and gis so please get them when you sign in!

Thank you for a great 2009 and lets make 2010 the same. From all the Senpais; Happy Christmas and a happy new year.

The West Hill Karate Kyokushinkai Club would like to congratulate Dwayne Sutton and Senpai Lucy Wilson for their sterling performance at the National Kata Tournament in Milton Keynes on Saturday 7th March. Senpai Lucy entered the senior woman’s Black Belt category where she used two strong katas to get into the final where she took on last years winner from Switzerland and went home with a very respectable third place. Dwayne Sutton meanwhile took part in the combined men and women’s Blue Belt category where he worked hard and took home a fantastic first place in his very first Kyokushinkai tournament.

Joshua Marketis and George Hustwayte also joined our team, entering the men’s Brown Belt and Yellow Belt categories respectively. Each performed to the best of their ability, but were unfortunately knocked out in the second of the three rounds. All the competitors wish to thank the help, support and encouragement they received at the club and we hope to see many more club members at the tournament next year.
